Can AI cite your site?

We ask ChatGPT and Perplexity the questions your audience asks, live: see whether your site is cited, who gets cited instead, and the sources behind those brands.

Free, no credit card · an email or Google to start · we only read public pages.

What the checker looks at

  • AI crawlersWhat your robots.txt allows 13 crawlers to do: OAI-SearchBot and GPTBot (ChatGPT), PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Googlebot, Google-Extended, Bingbot…
  • IndexingA noindex or nosnippet tag, or an X-Robots-Tag header, that keeps your page out of AI answers.
  • Structured dataSchema.org markup (Organization, sameAs, Product, FAQ, Article) that helps AI engines understand who you are.
  • llms.txtThe summary of your site written for AI. It's optional: we flag it without counting it in your grade.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if ChatGPT can cite my site?

ChatGPT cites pages its OAI-SearchBot crawler is allowed to read. If your robots.txt blocks it, or the page has a noindex tag, it can't appear as a source, no matter how many links it has. The checker tests both in a few seconds.

Should I block GPTBot?

It's your call. GPTBot collects pages to train OpenAI's models; blocking it won't stop ChatGPT search from citing you, since that goes through OAI-SearchBot. But a brand that's missing from the training data gets named less often on its own.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

No. It's a proposed format that no major answer engine has confirmed using so far. It doesn't replace a robots.txt that lets AI crawlers in, or content that's readable without JavaScript.

Everything is green, so why don't AI engines cite me?

Being readable is a prerequisite, not a guarantee. AI engines cite sources they trust: comparison sites, media, directories, forums. netlinking.si shows you which ones they cite for your audience's questions, and how to get a link there.
